And high-risk patients will get more aggressive therapy. This is ANYONE with diabetes...plus many patients with 2 or more risk factors...hypertension, smoking, low HDL, or family history of heart disease.

Aim for an LDL < 100 mg/dL in high-risk patients. Everyone should now aim for new targets...HDL > 40 and triglycerides < 200.
